View Full Version : New member numbers

toying with the idea of setting up new member numbers. unless i've overlooked something, i can't exactly change your user ID number, but i'm thinking of giving new numbers (choice of number would be based on current #, so bob would get first choice of number, whoever signed up last would get last choice) and yes there would be squatter's rights on current numbers.
reason being, theres something for this site i need to pay for, and currently i've been paying for this site out of pocket. i will not be keeping any of these profits. everything that is made will be kept aside and used for future purchases for the "club".
i'm thinking first and formost of printing up t-shirts (with your new member number on the back) and a new csc logo on the front. the total cost for you would be around $20. exceptions, of course, would be if your logo is used, you can print up the t's for free, or you can contribute something else (ie nivek and the decals). this would be a one time fee (unless of course you wanted a hoodie, hat, calendar! etc)
this is in no way definite.. and i would like to hear your input on this matter. i know we're all poor from blowing all our tax return dollaz into our cars, but it would be a cool idea nonetheless.
let me know

If you're talking about a one time membership fee than I wouldn't be entirely against it. Yeah it's cool to enjoy all we can out of life for free, but a small fee/donation (where you would still get something out of it. ie: shirt/hat or whatnot) seems totally acceptable to me. I'd give it to ya buddy. How about you re-write the post a little clearer and add a poll??

Sounds good to me... as long as you get something like a customized shirt out of it or something, $20 is cool just for that, especially if some (or if the printing is free), all of it goes to the site.
I'll call dibs on #33 unless someone in front of me wants to be an ass. :D

we would get the logo on the front, and if wanted, the number on the back with custom text up top, like your name or user name or something along the lines of "D. McGinn"

My cousin is trying to start a clothing company. They're primarily producing t's right now I believe. I can try to touch base with him if we're serious about doing any of it.

cliff notes:
i need to pay for something for this site, would rather not pay out of pocket. its about $180
we can change the member numbers...one time fee of $20-$25:
you get:
1) new member number
2) a shirt with your name/number on back and new logo on the front.
3) sticker to put on your car
4) anything else i can think of....
i don't keep any of the profits, everything will go back into CSC (i.e. pay for the web hosting that i HAVE been paying out of pocket, lower cost hoodies/hats, etc)
/cliff notes
here's the breakdown:
the shirts will cost about $16 ea (to order) if we get enough of them, unless i can find someone to do them cheaper. stickers, i'm not sure of the cost, will have to work that out, but assume $2 at most for them. so that's $18 for the cost of everything... meaning out of it, the proceeds will be $7 (if i take $25) from each person. if we get 25 people to do this, that will be $175, which will offset the cost perfectly. if i take $23 from each person, and 35 people sign up, its $175 again. see where i'm going with this?
does this make more sense?

It's always made sense. :P
And I still agree with it. :)
But we still need a good, new logo for said shirts, stickers, hats, and hoodies. ^^;;

i'm down scootie, only thing is why would anyone care to change member #'s? they sorta time line your membership (ya, i know you have join date for that but the #'s make it easier), i would think you'd want to keep those as they are.
edited for join date

Why don't we have a "premium" member status or something. I want a little gold rim next to my name...
I'd drop a couple bucks for that, I know how much bandwidth of yours I've wasted

haha it all makes sense, a membership fee inexchange for some cool stuff, shouldn't be a problem for anyone, and if it is, then they can be a member with nothing. :p

It made perfect sense from the get go. I'm gonna try to touch my base with cousin in a few min and see what's what.

yea sounds good to me, $25 isn't that much for dues and a t-shirt/sticker
i would keep the current member numbers though, unless you were to redo them on the site as well, which is possible by manually editing tables in the database...

i think (i need to double check) that i can just edit each person's profile to add one

I think you should remove all the inactive users (people who don't sign in for like 6 months) and bump everyone down to the next available member number.

Well most boards do have a pruning program that can do basically that, no? I don't like pruning for the actual threads and posts, but for inactive members, it's good.

i'll look into it... but basically people that have been deleted or denied membership still have a place holder for that number...
Judau

Ahhh... ok, because they get assigned when you join, but they don't get unassigned if the account gets deleted...
