05-11-2006, 02:36 AM
yea, everyone is ok. noone was in my car. only a 17 year old female driver in that car (i swear she looked like whe was at least 25). i was travelling down the road, driving a reasonble speed, when out of nowhere, this chick pulls out from the left from a taco bell franchise, and attempts to cut down a side street. well, needless to say, she obviously wasn't judging my speed AT ALL, gave me maybe 40 feet to go from 45ish-0 (or something thereabouts). slammed on my brakes, hit the horn, and skidded right into her. absolutely nothing i could do. yes, i was speeding (speed limit is 30), but i was driving reasonably.

fantomas
05-11-2006, 02:45 AM
a little frame shift...body panels.... the car "wet" itself (decided to do a coolant flush on its own) so i would imagine the radiator needs to be replaced.

i want to bring it to a subaru dealership, but the guy that came to tow my car was trying to get me to leave the car with them. my friend picked me up and we followed the flat bed to the shop he had to bring it to just to see where it is (its located in one of THE worst places on long island). we were talking about cars and i asked him how much it would cost, and how long it would take, etc, and he said without lifting the hood, he thinks about $6k. he then goes on to tell me how the front bumper cover will cost at least $800 alone because "European parts cost more than Japanese" i thought maybe he mixed up the words but than said my car was Euro again. my freind was about to stab him with a pen. i informed him that my car is, indeed, Japanese. I made my decision then and there to call a local subie dealer first thing in the morning.

I lol'd at the hubcap stuck in the bumper, but damn man :(

The same sort of accident happened to my brother. Person pulled out to cut across traffic, didn't judge my brothers speed correctly and he locked his brakes and slid into her. She was found at fault and the insurance company totaled the car.

Hope all goes well man :(

That's what I was thinking when my car was in the shop. Could have been fun.

Depending on the adjuster, you can tell them you think the car should be totalled, and they'll add in anything questionable.

and its not like its been abused. i received the car with about 85 miles on it. i tried adjusting the driver's side mirror from the inside, and it wouldn't adjust high enough. i had to manually roll down the window and physically push the mirror myself. damn i'm lazy. however, its kind of fun pushing a car with 86 miles to limit (it has 135+ now).

well, heres the deal. the plan the whole time (from before i crashed my car) was for my parents to come down in two seperate cars on thursday, go to my honor society induction dinner, pack all three cars, and drive home. then after the accident, it went down to two cars going back on thursday. now that i can get everything off my car, if its totalled, i think they'll get a hotel down here for thursday night, and friday morning i go and replace the parts on my car and we pack up and go back to CT.

i don't think any of you want to take a trip down here and then have to go up to mass the following day. thanks though

New MR2s are girly, girly cars.

fantomas
06-06-2006, 01:11 AM
i've never noticed more girls driving them than guys and i was unaware that a mid engine rear wheel drive car is girly. unless you're grouping all 2 seat convertables as girly  (z3, z4, m roadster, porsche, s2000) or maybe its the fact that it kind of has bug eyes :p which would give it a connotation of a neon (which we've by FAR disproved) or just the fact that its a toyota and every girl i know either drives a toyota [corolla] or a honda civic which would make the s2000 a girly car, no?

i won't make an opinion until i get in it and take it for a spin, but please, tell me whats so girly about them? (keep in mind i would never get a RED one though) :scott:

brent
06-06-2006, 01:19 AM
i think the new mr-s's are hotness. a simple lip kit or even just dropping them a bit with some larger wheels will make it look very nice. and theyre pretty rare, so you wont see them around ALL the time. id do it :)

looking forward to your test drive opinions on them though. never heard anything about them or had anyone i knew that drove one, so let us know how they are man!

MR2s got sold as the "I'm a middle aged woman and my husband won't buy me a Porsche" car. They got lumped right in with the Z3, Miata, and Boxster (no S).

Don't get me wrong, I'd rock a mid engined rear wheel drive car, but everything I've read about the MR2 said it had no engine... kind of defeats the purpose. Test drive it though, let us know how it goes!

Well, I *would* consider the MR-S more "girly" than an old MR2 Turbo... but regardless, this would just be for this summer, then either another WRX or GC8 RS? I'm not a fan of convertables, but handling wise, I'm sure the MR-S is up there. I still like the newer Miatas and the S2000 more, though.

I think the roughest thing would be going from AWD and tons of space with the wagon, to something that's spin happy and can't hold more than a suitcase. :P

Okay we all know that I'm kidding right? I've been known to rock my mothers RED miata every now and then. Tons of fun. Get what you can afford and like to drive. Just don't get a pontiac aztec.... because those things just deserve to be exploded.:D

What about the Saturn Sky!

iwanbo

The Sky looks really nice, and it looks to be promising. I still wouldn't buy one though because of Saturn being part of GM, and GM tumbling down a hole.

i was actually looking for a sky in berlin but they didn't have one which is when i saw the miata and took that for a test drive

like scr said, they sold their share in FHI back in August of 2005 or October or something. Toyota picked up 8.xx% of the shares though.

For a 2005, that is a lot of miles.. 55k in one year is monocle popping. That may explain why it's so cheap.
Looks like he has the SPT exhaust on it as well :)

fireball_jones
06-07-2006, 12:30 PM
Apparently it has traction control, and powered leather seats too

And he could have bought it in mid 2004 like I did. 55k is, um, a bit much, but it could be almost 2 years old.

iwanbo
06-07-2006, 12:46 PM
That's true. Just grab the VIN and run a carfax. I'd offer to do a free one, but sadly the good folks at SA can no longer do carfax reports since they caught on and threatened all sorts of bad things against us :(

yea, the only thing is the car has to be 16k and i need to be able to trade in the svx.

in other words, the new car must = $13k + svx [out the door].

iwanbo
06-07-2006, 10:08 PM
You'll get more selling the SVX outright than you will with a trade-in. Sure it's a "rare" Subaru, but the dealership won't care. They'll take it in for 1k trade, then sell it to someone for 10k.

i'd like to get it off ASAP, but i need to find a stock BPV if he doesn't have his stocker. the only other thing i wanted to do was a lightweight pulley, and when i asked him why he hadn't done that, he said 3 lbs wasn't that big of a deal  in which i imediately humored him, holding back the fact that its not meant to save weight as much as lowering the rotational mass. :scott:

nice!
we'll be able to churn these out then

i ended up with some redesign to sense and limit the motor current incase something gets stuck in the window as it goes up.

after this is done i want to add led rear fogs and have them look factory

do you have aim?

turbo_turtle
06-14-2006, 08:18 PM
yes, churning will happen.

You added a diode?

after this is done I want to add an auto down by way of manipulating the key fab/remote (holding the unlock) and also, I want to change the LED integrated brake light in the wing of +02 WRX so that it lights more/less LEDs depending on brake pedal pressure.

aim = coffee with pika
