So ebay charges a crapload of fees, carmax rips off.
Are there any places to post my car that should be a definite?

Yeah, you have to pay for Autotrader, but it's a great place to LOOK for cars, so it'd also be a good place to sell. Also, the bargain news is good because it's free with no pictures, I believe... and of course Craigslist is free as well.

And obviously, forums for that make of car... don't know what you're selling, but obviously, if you're selling a Subaru, I'd post it on all of the major Subie boards. And even if it's a non-Subaru, you can post it on these boards if you're a frequent member or something... however, just joining up to post a car for sale that's not even the same make as the board is dedicated to might be a bad idea. ^^;;

I had my wrx sold in like a week off autotrader. unless the car is a junker don't bother with craigslist. people will offer $50 and a guitar for a wrx....

Autotrader I think would be pretty good. Yeah you have to pay, but you get replies pretty fast. I used it for my WRX and got quite a few replies, but ended up selling it to someone from NASIOC.

And yea like Scott said, don't bother with craigslist unless it's a junker. People on there are just down right retarded.

Haha, I sold my Eclipse for $2750 through Craigslist... it was great! :) Sure it was probably then used for a robbery or something, but it did the trick! Haha...

And as long as you don't care about getting stupid replies that you just say "no" to, then it's just one more place to have people find your car.

Before I even noticed my current car was on RS25.com, I found it on Craigslist.
