Anyone here running anything other than stock? I'm changing out my fluid, and thinking about doing H6 rear rotors (I've got some subiebucks to blow) and some new pads while I'm there.
Other option is front and rear sways. Must ... mod ... something ...

I mentioned this to Dan when I was over his house the other night, and I forgot what he said, but overall it really wasn't worth it.
Scoobymods has a really great writeup on how to do it with part#'s if you're really interested.

The H6s weren't worth it? It's only ~$250 for the brackets and rotors. The only other upgrade for the 02-05s are the 4/2 pots, and that's ~$1200 :O
But since I'm thinking about both, does anyone know offhand what diameter the front stock 05 WRX swaybar is?

I did some or maby quite a bit of research on the H6 upgrade.
At dan's I talked to bob about this.
So the brakes abilitys to apply torque to a spinning wheel is important but not as important as the ability of the tire to hold on to the road when breaking. So first get a good set of tires.
Next. The rear brakes can only apply so much force to the ground due to weight shift when stopping. Next, look at various sites and see what you can find about what is more important brake rotor size or pad selection.
Rotor size can affect torque applied to the spinning wheel but not too much. Its really pad surface area and the friction of the pad on that surface.
Rotor size is not quite but almost purely related to heat disipation. The H6 upgrade does increase size a whole 1" but that doesn't make pad contact any better it increases torque a slight amount but its in the rear so, its an even slighter increase. It is still a solid rotor so head disipation is marginaly better.
My recommendation with my limited knowledge would be...
Upgrade to dot 4,, thats a no brainer. If your tracking your car you should know this by now. Get motul or somthing for the track,, and some race pads.. NO stockers..
Also head disipation is your #1 friend. Fabricate some ducts for the rear and upgrade the ducts for the fronts. THis will aleviate alot of problems..
Fried bearing grease, fractured pads or pad wear at a phenomenal rate.
So good luck in your decision. If you can't afford a vented rotor upgrade, try some good fluid no matter what, better pads, hawk or ebc etc... race for racing and street for the street, hawk hps ebc green..
Happy motoring...:drive:

when i was gonna do goodridge lines i was gonna go with the hawk hps plus pads, i believe thats what they were. good price, good pad. ill have to ask my buddy which ones he has on his sti, but the hawks he has makes a ton of dust deposits on the wheels :( my general idea now, is that i will not replace anything until they wear out enough and need replacing. but by then id probably go with 2/4 pots :)

The real question here is... what do you want to do/accomplish. Pads and fluid and lines are a huge upgrade. H6 rotors wont do much unless you really drive it. And if you really drove it, you would need larger front rotors far far before you would need larger rear rotors. Front engine yeilds a huge moment about the center of rotation of the front wheels. While drifting turbo turtle by utilizing the e-brake, the rear wheels were only as hot as the fronts. Larger rear rotors will only give you larger heat capacity and disproportionate braking. Which you don't need/want respectively. If you've got R-compound, and your tracking, larger rear rotors would be a noticeable difference coupled with larger front rotors. Disproportionate braking comes from the same fluid force over larger surface area = less friction but more moment arm = fubar.
